01 -
Start by washing your apples thoroughly. Slice them into ¼-inch thick rounds, then remove the tough core using a 1¼-inch metal circle cutter. To keep the slices fresh, place them in a bowl of water with a splash of lemon juice or fruit protector.
02 -
Pat the apple slices dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture, then pop them in the refrigerator to chill completely.
03 -
Melt your chocolate or candy melts using either a double boiler or microwave until smooth. If using a regular donut baking pan, give it a light coating of non-stick spray (skip this step for silicon molds, just ensure they're clean and dry).
04 -
Pour about 2 tablespoons of melted chocolate into each mold cavity (filling about ⅓ of the way). Gently tap and rotate the pan to spread the chocolate evenly up the sides.
05 -
Place an apple slice in each mold and cover with melted caramel. Refrigerate for 5 minutes until the caramel sets.
06 -
Top with remaining melted chocolate, ensuring all caramel and apple are completely covered. Refrigerate for 20-30 minutes until firm.
07 -
Carefully unmold the treats (flip the metal pan or gently push from silicon molds), drizzle with extra melted chocolate, and serve!
