01 -
Wash and dry the apples. Core and slice them into thin fries (about 6mm thick). Leave the skin on for added texture and nutrients.
02 -
In a shallow bowl, mix the flour and 1/4 cup of brown sugar with a pinch of salt. In a second bowl, whisk the eggs until fully combined. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, cinnamon, nutmeg, and the remaining 1/4 cup of brown sugar.
03 -
Dip each apple slice first into the flour mixture, ensuring full coverage, then into the egg mixture, followed by the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure each slice is well-coated in all three layers.
04 -
Preheat your air fryer to 190°C for about 5 minutes.
05 -
Spray the air fryer basket lightly with cooking spray. Place the coated apple fries in a single layer in the basket, leaving space between each for even cooking. You may need to cook in batches depending on your air fryer size.
06 -
Lightly spray the top of the apple fries with cooking spray. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
07 -
Remove the apple fries from the air fryer and let them cool slightly. Serve warm with caramel sauce for dipping if desired.
