01 -
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, granulated sugar, and the active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
02 -
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
03 -
Slowly add the dry mixture into the yeast mixture, stirring until a dough starts to form.
04 -
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
05 -
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
06 -
Once risen, punch down the dough to release the air. Roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Cut into strips (about 1 inch wide) using a pizza cutter.
07 -
Place the strips on a greased baking sheet, leaving space between them, and cover with a cloth. Let them rise for another 30 minutes.
08 -
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
09 -
Once the dough has risen again, brush the melted butter over the top of the breadsticks. Sprinkle garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over them.
10 -
Bake the breadsticks in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
11 -
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Pair them with marinara sauce for dipping.
