# Ingredients:

01 - 1 pound Italian sausage (sweet or spicy, casings removed)
02 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
03 - 1 large yellow onion, sliced
04 - 2 bell peppers (red and green), sliced
05 - 3 cloves garlic, minced
06 - 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
07 - 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
08 - Salt and pepper to taste
09 - 1/2 cup chicken broth
10 - 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
11 - Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

# Instructions:

01 - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Crumble the Italian sausage into the hot skillet and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Remove sausage from the skillet and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.
02 - In the same skillet with the sausage drippings, add sliced onion and bell peppers. Sauté for 5-6 minutes until they begin to soften.
03 - Stir in the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
04 - Return the cooked sausage to the skillet. Pour in the chicken broth and balsamic vinegar, stirring to combine all ingredients.
05 - Lower the heat and simmer the mixture for 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together and the liquid to reduce slightly.
06 - Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil or parsley.
