Amish Applesauce Cake (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1½ cups all-purpose flour
02 - 1 tsp baking soda
03 - ½ tsp baking powder
04 - 1 tsp cinnamon
05 - ½ tsp nutmeg

→ Wet ingredients

06 - ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
07 - ½ cup granulated sugar
08 - ½ cup brown sugar
09 - ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
10 - 2 eggs
11 - 1 tsp vanilla extract

12 - ½ cup chopped walnuts or raisins

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9-inch round or square pan.
02 - In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
03 - Beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla and applesauce.
04 - Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in nuts or raisins if using.
05 - Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan, then transfer to a cooling rack.
06 - Drizzle with vanilla glaze, caramel, or cream cheese frosting if desired.
