Classic School Cafeteria Pizza Recipe (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Pizza Base

01 - 4 tablespoons olive oil
02 - 3 tablespoons cornmeal
03 - 1 pound prepared pizza dough

→ Toppings

04 - 1 pound mild ground Italian sausage
05 - 3 tablespoons Italian seasoning
06 - 1 13-ounce jar pizza sauce
07 - 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

# Instructions:

01 - Get your oven nice and hot at 400°F. Take your sheet pan and give it a good coating with 3 tablespoons of olive oil - use a pastry brush to make sure it's evenly spread. Sprinkle cornmeal all over to give that classic pizza crunch.
02 - Work that pizza dough into a rectangle shape right in your sheet pan. If it's being stubborn and keeps springing back, just let it chill for about 5 minutes - it'll be more cooperative after a little rest.
03 - Heat up that last tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until it starts to shimmer. Toss in your Italian sausage and Italian seasoning, and cook it up until there's no pink left - should take about 7-8 minutes. Don't forget to drain off any extra grease.
04 - Pop that crust in the oven for 7-8 minutes - you want it to lose that raw look and get just a hint of color.
05 - Spread your pizza sauce edge to edge, sprinkle on that cooked sausage, and cover it all with a blanket of mozzarella. Back in the oven it goes for 8-10 minutes until that cheese is melted and getting golden brown spots. Cut it into 8 rectangles just like back in school lunch days.
