In a clean bowl, beat egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.

In a separate bowl, combine egg yolks, smooth blended cottage cheese, salt, and cornstarch (if using) until well mixed.

Carefully fold whipped egg whites into yolk mixture in batches, maintaining as much air as possible.

Form mixture into 6 even mounds on prepared baking sheet. Bake 25-30 minutes until golden brown and firm to touch.
