Italian Christmas Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 4 cups all-purpose flour.
02 - 1 cup sugar.
03 - 1/2 cup whole milk.
04 - 2 large eggs, lightly beaten.
05 - 1 tablespoon baking powder.
06 - 3/4 cup vegetable oil.
07 - 1 tablespoon almond extract.
08 - 3 cups powdered sugar.
09 - 1 tablespoon almond extract (for glaze).
10 - 1 1/2 tablespoons hot water.
11 - Rainbow nonpareil sprinkles.

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 375°F. Line baking sheets with silicone mats or parchment paper.
02 - Whisk dry ingredients, make well in center. Add wet ingredients and mix until smooth.
03 - Scoop 1-inch balls onto sheets, flatten slightly. Bake 8-10 minutes until set but not browned.
04 - Whisk powdered sugar, almond extract, and hot water until thick like molasses.
05 - Dip warm cookies in glaze twice, add sprinkles after second dip. Let set completely.

# Notes:

01 - Don't overbake - cookies should not brown.
02 - Double glazing creates tender texture.
03 - Can use different flavored extracts.
