Easy Cherry Cream Cheese Danishes (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Basic Ingredients

01 - 1 sheet puff pastry dough, thawed
02 - 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
03 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
04 - 4 tablespoons sugar
05 - 1½ cups canned cherry pie filling

→ Finishing Touches

06 - 1 egg mixed with 2 tablespoons water for egg wash
07 - Shaved chocolate for topping (optional)
08 - Powdered sugar for dusting

# Instructions:

01 - Get your oven heating to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. On a lightly floured surface, roll your thawed puff pastry into a 12x9-inch rectangle.
02 - Cut the pastry lengthwise into two 4½-inch strips, then cut each strip into thirds to make six pieces. Score a ½-inch border around each piece and prick the centers with a fork to control puffing.
03 - Mix your softened cream cheese with sugar and vanilla until smooth. Spread 2-3 tablespoons of this mixture in the center of each pastry piece, staying within those borders you scored.
04 - Place about 6 cherries in the middle of each cream cheese center. Brush the pastry edges with your egg wash mixture.
05 - Bake for 20 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through. The pastries should be golden brown and puffy around the edges. Cool on a wire rack.
06 - Just before serving, dust with powdered sugar and sprinkle with shaved chocolate if you're feeling fancy. Enjoy while still slightly warm or at room temperature.

# Notes:
