Caramel Apple Upside Down Cake (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (85g)
02 - 1/2 cup packed brown sugar (100g)
03 - 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
04 - 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
05 - 2 medium apples, peeled and sliced 1/4-inch thick (1.5-2 cups)

06 - 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (188g)
07 - 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
08 - 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
09 - 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
10 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
11 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (113g)
12 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100g)
13 - 1/2 cup packed brown sugar (100g)
14 - 2 large eggs, room temperature
15 - 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
16 - 6 tablespoons whole milk, room temperature (90ml)

# Instructions:

01 - Cook butter and brown sugar until thickened. Add cinnamon and vanilla. Pour into pie dish and arrange apple slices on top. Refrigerate briefly.
02 - Mix dry ingredients. Beat butter with sugars, then add eggs and vanilla. Gradually combine dry ingredients and milk into butter mixture.
03 - Pour batter over apple arrangement. Bake at 350°F for 40-46 minutes, tenting with foil halfway through.
04 - Cool 15 minutes before inverting onto serving plate. Let cool completely for cleanest slices.
